For some reason it is fun to make salt shakers. Here is one I started three and a half years ago and finished over the weekend.
It consists of a section of Delrin tube sandwiched between two sheets of 1/4″ polycarb. There is a little retaining groove in the PC, but maybe if I did it again, I wouldn’t need that. The top is an old brass fitting (not sure how this will stand up long term to salt??). I think I must have made this because I found a tap for pipe fittings in the Edgerton shop at MIT, so I formulated a project where I would have to use that tap.
The pipe fitting is actually kind of thick at the top, but I countersunk the screws from the back to make it easier for the salt to come out.
